At rudecolor.com, we are passionate about the anthropology of design and are excited to feature inspiration that transcends culture, geography and time.
In our experience, the beginning of any design project is a mood board. A mood board is a collection of images, colors and keywords to denote a specific mood or design concept. By gathering and presenting visual elements together, designers using mood boards are able to effectively communicate the design direction of the project.
Mood boards are valuable tools for creative collaboration. They are a great way to brainstorm with a client or colleagues on the creative approach in terms of colors, typography, images and overall look and feel of the design project. Clients are able to make confident decisions on positioning and design approach based on the visual stimuli presented in a mood board.
In this book, we have presented 50 mood boards showcasing images, keywords and color schemes with hex values – as a quick and ready reference for any design project. From the earthy tones of Moroccan souks to the casual blues of weathered denim, inspiration has been drawn from art, architecture, culture, fashion and nature.
