The colorful chaos of India’s largest flower market

Located in Kolkata, India’s largest flower market is a bustling marketplace of sellers, buyers, porters, chaiwallahs and the like.  In a country of a vast number of gods and therefore, festivals, Kolkata’s flower market is always busy catering to festivals, weddings, pujas and the odd political party.  Flower sellers have limited space to display their wares and you will find a number of them peddling garlands tied to their waists.  It is an overwhelming experience replete with a sensory overload of color and fragrance.  It is a pity we cannot share the olfactory sensation over the internet.  But the images are extraordinary and experiential.
