An arid region located near the formidable Thar desert, Rajasthan in India is home to princely nobles as well as desert nomads. Water is sparse in this area and rural women have to often walk for miles to gather drinking water for their families. While men are away at work, the task of portering water in metal and clay vessels falls on the women.
